How the Australain Government enforces Poverty
One of the many ways the Australian govenrment enforces poverty is through its welfare benifits. The government uses centerlink to appear to be helping its disadvantage whereas in actual fact they are there to garentee that almost no one improves their position in the world.
The Centerlink I go to have been remodeled 4 times in the last 4 years, now I don’t know about you, but this is not where I want australias taxpaying money used, especially when there was nothing wrong with it the last 3 times. If you err on centerlink, and by err I mean not that you made a mistake, but they chose to believe you did, they will lessen your payments, so the you cant actually go out and look for work cause you dont even have enough money to buy toilet paper. If they short pay you, you know you’ll never see that again, but if you owe them money, they will be on you faster than flies on shit.
My latest issue with them is by far the height of stupidity. I go to uni, yes I’m trying to better my self so I don’t have to deal with the moronic government run system that is centerlink. Now half the uni students at present are suffering from scurvy, this is becasue they cannot afford vegetables, but the minister for education claims she got by just fine with the uni payment, in fact she believes 400 a fortnight is too much, well I’m sorry we don’t all have families living on the north shore we can run home to every time, we want more cash. Some students are working two job and rasing a family just to try and get by. They should not elect people that have no knowledge of the things they are suposed to represent. The word incompetence springs to mind. In the past 4 weeks I have spent at least 700 bucks on books, an extra 50 on parking. Centelink will no subsidise any of this, their reason being, ’we don’t do that’. Tell me how the fuck am I suposed to survive. Plus my car broke down last week, that cost me an extra 269 bucks. lets look at the figures.
200 a week
4 weeks = 800
700 on books
50 on parking
269 on car
Let’s not even get into the fucking motorway tolls, not to mention I also had to go to the dentist to fix a tooth cause they dont sell decent healthy food at uni’s, that cost 300 buck. I’m sure you’ve spoted the dilemma there. Centerlink will allow you a once a year loan of 500 dollars, this they deduct from your paymets 38 bucks a payment I believe. The money the give me now is not enough, they want me to take a loan out, cover my existing debts but rack up more because I wont be able to afford what I normally can.
And while all this is happening you can always try and pay of HECs debt, thats only 6thousand a year. On Austudy I earn 5000 per anum, they dont even give us enough to pay tax.
Under these conditions tell me how you are suposed to move up in the world, all the government is doing is garenteeing we stay dependant on their handouts for the rest of our lives, and because we cant earn enough to move up, our children from before they are born will already be on the same path.
The worst thing about it all is that this country doesnt even care.
Australia may look like a first world country, its not, its as backward as hell, they just conceal it better
