Thanksgiving

I've never had thanksgiving and I've never really had family functions, Having a psychopath, a mentally disabled person and a drama queen, made it hard to pull them off without a hitch and after the knife incident, we decided to cancel any family meeting, even funerals.

So tell me about your thanks givings, is your whole family there, what are their names, which one really iritates you and how? What do you have to eat? is it hot or is it cold? What decorations do you have or don't you have any? What's the weather like? what type of weather would you prefer for the occasion? What was your favorite thanksgiving and why?

Tell me everything.

Thanksgiving for me and my daughter the last 5 years has been spent at a friend's mother's house but this year she had surgery and isn't hosting a dinner. I am going to make a low key mini thanksgiving feast for me and my girl. My family will all be in New York having the family meal. I thought about going home for the Holiday but I hate spending the airfare for a 4 day visit and my daughter can't miss school and I am only just back to work after a very long illness. I think it will be kinda nice for us to spend the day together without her running around with her friends. I am looking forward to it. I hope everyone has a great turkey day.

We don't have Thanksgiving. But I fiercely oppose family get-togethers. Not even my parent get to see me unless I HAVE to go. And I'm an only child!!

Thanksgiving is not one of ours in England, but we have plenty of other occasions. There are a lot of Jewish holidays when we all get together, but sadly over the years the numbers have diminished through death, divorce and children living overseas.

Mostly everyone comes to me, as I am the most observant in the family and won't drive to them. I love having everyone over and cooking all the traditional foods associated with whichever festival.
For example, honey cake and tzimmes for a sweet New Year and latkes and doughnuts at Chanukah, etc.

I am a typical Jewish mother; I love entertaining and feeding them, while I eat like a bird (LOL) Who can eat it after slaving in the kitchen all day (LOL).

But I invite friends and their children and their parents; it's wonderful to be surrounded by family and friends who love each other.

And if there's no arguments ... well a miracle.

Please indulge me a philosophical moment. I am yonks older than you all and you never know what tomorrow will bring, so I try to value what I have now.

Gosh I'm crying. I am so sorry.

Lotsa luv Ann xxxxx

Ann: My favorite Jewish holiday is passover. I always have a house full for the first sedar.

I love passover too. I start cleaning from Purim, but for all the hard work, there is a sense of being spiritually cleaned.

This year PG, I will be cleaning here, then doing the same again for my son in Israel, if by any miracle I can organise flights - but that's another story.

Lotsa luv Ann xxxxx
